Michele Capdepon Blanquette de Limoux Brut Caratere
Region: France
Limoux is the first sparkling wine region. It is widely acknowledged that Dom Perignon (poetic marketer and promoter of Champagne) made his way through Limoux up to Champagne taking valuable sparkling information with him. Champagne thus was actually a development on the Limoux region's style. Blanquette de Limoux is softer than Crémant de Limoux, and must be 90% of the local grape Mauzac. The Capdepon family is proud of their farming history, over 400 years. The family is focused on maximum quality in the vineyards and, therefore, implement hand-harvested techniques and the use of wild yeasts. This dry Brut style is 90% Mauzac, with Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay making up the back of the blend. Pale golden dancing bubbles with baked breads, taosted nuts, baby's breath, apple blossom, fresh dried hay, sweet grass, orange blossom and lemon leaf unfurling with air. Grilled apricot and toast join more apple, pear, hay and minerals on the semi-crisp finish.
